No Such Thing

Isn’t that beautiful?

Ah, spring time in the Rockies and what all most of us know as wisdom enough to never turn your back on her. Her being Mother Nature, that is.

According to the natives (and the Farmer’s Almanac), you never plant before May 10th. After that, however, you’re in the clear.

Yeah, I don’t mean to be picky, but this doesn’t look clear to me.

Isn’t winter-into-spring supposed to be a smooth transition? I want to think so, but then I remember my cousin once telling me (we were talking about becoming parents) that there is no such thing as ‘smooth transition,’ and that the notion played out as well as ‘tasty vomit.’

Naturally, I pruned the lilac bush outside my studio in order to free it up, divest it of the dead growth and inhibiting limbs so that it could sway untethered and released. I’m going to lose my mind.

But I’m going to lose it in Maui because I’ve had it and I’m moving there today.

If you need me, I’ll be staring at the Pacific.

Goodbye forever.
