Honestly, men can be so obtuse sometimes!

And the tile? I soooo get that! I have a red dining room – about 37 coats of red (yes – a shade that I picked afer hours and hours of deliberation) – that I hate. Hated it before the paint even dried. Hated it after coats 2, 3, 4 and 10. Still hate it.

Mark is at Lowe’s right now buying some super high-powered primer to cover the ugly red so that he can paint it another color I love… because he loves me. Or wants to live another day. Or can’t win? I don’t know. I think it’s because he loves me…

But he did roll his eyes at me. WTH?

I am busting a gut here!! I am so going to tell Sue about Clary just going to bed and Nancy pregnant at the TB, just to make my spousal ineptitude seem less. Oh yeah, I am not beneath benefiting from others pain to make me look good, ok, less bad. My plumbing story? I have two, I have taken Sue’s sink apart more times than I care to count due to earrings, she is forever dropping them down her sink… girls. And BTW there is no way she would even TRY to fix a plumbing problem herself, she would just move over to my sink until that one too was clogged with earrings. But thank your lucky stars that you don’t live just 45 miles from Kohler Wisconsin. Ten years ago, while just thinking about housing, I consented to tour the 60K sq ft design center at Kohler. Big mistake. I am not joking one bit when I quote this “ I really don’t care what you do with any of the rest of this house, but I must have THAT sink”. I am slow but like being married, as such, our entire house is now designed around this stupid half-bath sink. When new folks come over, it is first on the tour, no joke. If only I were as valued.

Ok let me share with you one of the secrets of plumbing…ready????…singing….you need to insert plumbing terms into songs and make light of it or else one of you may end up with a wrench where one does not belong.
I HATE plumbing….When we bought our first house we remodeled the bathroom by ourselves. Not a pretty sight…but non the less an adventure.. I was 8 months pregnant and using the Taco Bell bathroom to get ready for bed everynight. Yeah never a dull moment with the Brumley’s …Oh yeah did I tell you the Taco Bell was on Colfax???
The long and short of it is there is ALWAYS a story behind a plumbing job so enjoy the adventure and sing your hearts out!!!

OMG!!!! Hilarious.

Our last foray into the underground world of plumbing (no pun intended) started with a new dishwasher, purchased and delivered on December 30th, late in the day. It was agreed that the install would occur the next morning.

We (and by we, I mean Mark, of course) started at 8:15 in the morning and by the time “we” finished it was 11:30 at NIGHT and “we” had replaced (out of complete neccesity) the pipes under the kitchen sink, the kitchen faucet, the waterline running to the fridge, the bathroom faucet, the shut off valve under the bathroom sink, the shut off valve under the HOUSE and the light fixutre ABOVE the bathroom sink (once the small electrical fire from the water-induced short was out).

That was a fun, fun New Year’s Eve. It’s been hard to top!

1. Please, make more reduction but change the subject. Grab a book of recipes, please. Use Alabriño wine for white fish, A very expensive Ribera del Duero or some Rioja or some Chateâu for meat, and some liquor for the flambe desert.

So, just to make you feel better….I, too, have a gorilla in my drain. Graham, who happens to be a very manly-man and extremely accomplished at all things handy, (as he spends days-on-end researching all things handy on the internet) had purchased a very specialized tool just for the purpose of dragging aforementioned gorilla from the drain, (which BTW, I don’t think coat hangers are widely recommended). Lots of gorilla chunks came out, however, the drain is still horribly slow. A couple of weeks ago, someone left the water on in this sink….for about 5 hours. Thank the Good Lord for that female hoarding gene that says all FHP must be purchased in quantities of no less than 100, all sizes, all flow measures, all at once. I’d say at least 30% of our little flood was sandbagged by the basket full of “Necessary Stuff,” which is nice….since my bathroom sink is in my bedroom…right next to my bed.

I know I’m late to the party with this post. I just wanted you to know that I too have a Canon XSI. I got it by convincing my wife that WE NEED THIS so that I can take professional looking baby pictures… I also got a 50″ softbox and flash. Not to mention wireless radio triggers (eBay) so that I don’t have to string flash cord everywhere.

I’m happy to report that the gambit worked and I am actually able to take decent pictures with it! I took the shot that you can see in this post: http://www.gladdads.com/2009/05/broken-arms-big-burps.html

I must admit I liked the last entry pictures and I thought they were taken by “The Rebel Force”. They are way different, have a texture, a life the other ones you took don’t have. And the black and white Cute Red Head it’s a beautiful picture. She looks the way you always picture her: focus, compromised, worried…, and cute. And the ones with August are marvelous, both of him looking from the window and standing at the door eating…So, I got you, Todd, though I didn’t want to ruin your surprise. Though it’s still a surprise. Enjoy the new world of your precious toy, and torture your family with pictures that would last forever. And keeping enjoying us with them. Thank to you… Oh, I have to admit! You’re a great guy and I do like your blog (and books)!

Love it. Every part of it. He got you since the day he was born…And so grown up he’s indeed. Oh, I don’t know what to do if I’d have a kid…I don’t know if I could stand have my heart broken every day watching him growing up…But it’s a great adventure after all. And it’s great to watch it and feel it so closely thanks to you (and your wife, of course. She’s the one and only Master and Commander.)
